Highlights from C-Touch and Display Shenzhen 2017

Counterpoint Technology Market Research has successfully completed the “Mobile Phone Industry Chain Summit 2017 – Industrial Innovation in Full Screen Era” held together with Reed Expo in Shenzhen on Nov 24, 2017. Sun Wenping, President of the Shenzhen Mobile Communications Association, gave a welcome speech. He briefed the audience on the history of the mobile phone industry in China, from being primarily ODMs to world class manufacturers. Mr. Sun believes that although smartphone market growth has slowed in China, there are still room for growth for not just the big players but many of the smaller players in the market.

 

Tarun Pathak, Associate Director at Counterpoint, shared with the audience the current global smartphone market landscape and key regions poised for growth. In addition, he deep dived into the largest emerging market, India, to discuss the factors driving the mobile market and the rise of the Chinese smartphone brands.

 

Shobhit Srivastava, Research Analyst at Counterpoint, gave an interesting presentation on what goes beyond the growth of smartphones in emerging devices, i.e. connected cars, smart speakers and AR/VR. In particular, he mentioned that 5G and AI will be the key drivers in the user adoption of emerging devices.

 

James Yan, Research Director at Counterpoint, spoke about the current trends of key smartphone components, such as memory, fingerprint sensor and camera. James also gave an in-depth analysis on the latest market development of bezel-less displays and the challenges in the adoption of bezel-less displays among Chinese OEMs.
