Apple smartphone sales in China fell in the first six weeks of the year, hurt by strong competition and pricing pressures, new data showed Tuesday.
Apple’s iPhone sales slumped 24% on year, pushing the U.S. tech giant to fourth place in share of sales in the world’s largest smartphone market, data from research firm Counterpoint showed.
Sales by Chinese rival Huawei rose 64% on year, driven higher by demand for its Mate 60 series. Huawei took second place with a 17% market share, up from 9% a year earlier.
Vivo, another Chinese competitor, took the top spot for market share, the data showed.
