"Virgin Media, a subsidiary of Liberty Global, is aiming to build 1200 charging points within 18 months using some of its 40,000 broadband cabinets in the UK. It is doing so as part of a consortium including, Vattenfall, Cenex, SMS plc, Connected Kerb, Loughborough University and several local authorities. The UK government has a goal of attaining net neutral carbon emissions by 2050 but the lack of EV charging infrastructure is a persistent problem. The Virgin Media initiative highlights how companies can leverage assets in completely new ways. If successful expect other infrastructure providers to follow suit." - Soumen Mandal
