Overview:
The handset market in Hong Kong has seen a considerable decline for two consecutive years. This is due to the lack of technological innovation to bring a real “hero” model to grab the consumers’ attention, as well as the improved product quality which has led to a lengthened upgrade cycle by consumers. Following the cooling of the overall smartphone market, major operators in Hong Kong have suffered a reduction in the hardware business. This has led to a decrease in subsidies on hardware to maintain profitability.
