LATAM Smartphone Market Overview 2020

The impact of COVID-19 on the region’s mobile handset TAM resulted in a double-digit decline in 2020. All LATAM markets except Peru saw a double-digit drop in volumes in 2020. This is because Peru had a double-digit decline in 2019. Meanwhile, 5G Technology and Advanced Features Continue to Grow in the region.

Despite the slowing market, the top three brands improved their share during 2020. This led to an increased brand concentration, with the top two brands representing 59% of the market – 5.5% points more than in 2019. OPPO, vivo, realme, TECNO and others entered the market looking to grab some of the Huawei share.
