"Huawei has a significant role to play in the standardization of 5G, more so than in previous wireless generations. And it has been gaining market share where others have not (although the situation with ZTE earlier in the year, gave all vendors a leg-up). Huawei’s strength and opacity relative to the Chinese government is a concern for many. Australia and New Zealand have banned their telcos from using Huawei equipment. Canada is reviewing its role. The UK has not banned Huawei, but it has set up a lab to test Huawei equipment. Nothing malicious has been found, but it has said that overall security levels are not good enough. But this is a universal problem in tech as the many data breaches attest." - Peter Richardson
