EC2 Instances (A1) Powered by Arm-Based AWS Graviton Processors

"Amazon follows Google (with TPUs) in building custom SoCs to power its cloud data centres’ workloads. The custom built SoC is based on the $350 million acquisition of Annapurna Labs three years ago by Amazon. The AWS Graviton processers are based on the 64-bit ARM Neoverse platform which should expand ARM's market share handsomely in the infrastructure market, competing head-on with Intel. Amazon aims to use these custom chips optimized for cost-sensitive scale-out EC2's A1 instances workloads. Amazon though for near-to-midterm will be using multiple processors or AWS depending on workloads and geographies.- Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC and AWS Graviton." - Neil Shah
