"The Walt Disney Company is set to launch Hotstar, India’s largest OTT provider, in key global markets that include Singapore and West Asian countries. In 2018, Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, which owns Star India, the parent of Fox Star Studios and Hotstar. Now, Disney aims to reach a majority of the 40 million South Asians living abroad. Hotstar had already launched in three key international markets – the US, the UK, and Canada. In a big push for Hotstar, Disney already cut off linear television offers on Star TV channels in many of the countries where it plans to launch Hotstar. With the digital content delivery cheaper than cable, Hotstar will be a more cost-effective move to tap into the expat South Asian population." - Angela Cheon
