ARM Officially Announces It Will Continue to Supply Huawei and HiSilicon
"We have previously known that ARM and Huawei have a perpetual license agreement for the ARMv8 architecture. ARM China has now confirmed that Huawei will have access to the company’s latest ARMv9 architecture in the future as well. Liang Quan, Marketing Director of ARM China, stated, “The technologies provided by ARM come from the UK, and they are not affected [by the US trade restrictions].” This is a strong statement, and other companies that have similar grey areas may likely use this argument to continue supplying Huawei. The biggest hurdle remains Google GMS, which is unlikely to be affected by this precedent." - Maurice Klaehne
