Overview:
ABB (ASEA Brown Boveri) is a Swiss-Swedish conglomerate, mainly operating in Power, Energy, Industrial Automation, Robotics and heavy industrial equipment. ABB was formed in 1987-88, when two medium-sized firms ASEA A.B. and BBC A.G., merged to form ABB Ltd, making the new entity the biggest player in the electrotechnical industry. However, ABB shifted its focus from being an electrotechnical player to become a leader in industrial automation. With the launch of the ABB Ability platform, ABB has expanded its capability in factory automation. The company has forayed into a digital solution of managing industrial assets and processes, apart from being a hardware and machine supplier.
