Global in-car wireless charging system sales grew 14% YoY in Q1 2025, according to Counterpoint Research’s latest Global In-car Wireless Charging Tracker. Global in-car wireless charging adoption rose to 56% in Q1 2025 from 53% in Q1 2024 as car OEMs increasingly offered it as a standard feature, with strong uptake in China, Europe, and Latin America markets. China has lagged in wireless charging adoption, despite being a leader in overall automotive innovation. However, a recent surge in adoption, led by next-gen EV makers, boosted sales in China by 24% YoY, contributing significantly to the double-digit percentage growth globally.

LG Electronics remained the market leader, but ADAYO has been rapidly closing the gap as Chinese automakers scale adoption and expand globally. Among the top 10 suppliers, ADAYO grew the fastest during the quarter, followed by InvisPower and Molex. ADAYO led the domestic market, supported by rising EV brands like Xiaomi, Galaxy (Geely), Xpeng, and Leapmotor. Meanwhile, InvisPower has been benefiting from its partnership with BYD and its growing international footprint.
Commenting on supplier dynamics, Senior Analyst Soumen Mandal said, “As Chinese automakers ramp up the adoption of in-car wireless charging, Chinese suppliers are emerging as major players in the global market. This shift could pose challenges for non-Chinese suppliers, who may struggle to match the production scale and cost efficiency enabled by China’s manufacturing ecosystem.”
Europe recorded the highest YoY growth in in-car wireless charging penetration during the quarter. The entry of Chinese automakers has intensified competition, prompting European brands to differentiate by offering wireless charging even in mass-market models. BYD, SAIC (MG Motor), and Changan’s strong performance in Europe boosted InvisPower’s market share, while Hitachi-LG benefited from Geely Auto’s gains.
Latin America also emerged as a key growth region, registering the highest YoY rise in sales globally. As Chinese OEMs expand in the region and US brands lose ground, rising EV sales are driving the adoption of in-car wireless charging. InvisPower continues to gain traction alongside BYD’s growth, while Mobase saw over 150% YoY growth, supported by its supply relationship with Hyundai-Kia.
Commenting on the market outlook, Associate Director Greg Basich said, “Geopolitical tensions are prompting automakers and Tier-1 suppliers to localize or diversify sourcing, even for non-critical components like in-car wireless charging modules. While not essential to core vehicle functions, these features are increasingly important for differentiation, especially in competitive markets. Sourcing from neutral regions is becoming a key strategy to reduce risk and ensure supply chain resilience.”
Chinese players are rolling out proprietary wireless charging protocols, bypassing Qi 2.0 in line with local regulations introduced in 2024. To remain competitive, international suppliers must either develop higher-power solutions or push for universal standards that support broader ecosystem compatibility.
