  • The Galaxy S25 Edge is the slimmest (5.8mm thin) and lightest (163g) Samsung smartphone yet.

  • Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Galaxy flagship SoC enables hybrid Galaxy AI GenAI features including Google’s Gemini Live and more.

  • Priced at $1,099, sits between the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra, with the tradeoffs being battery capacity and telephoto camera.

  • Samsung’s launch comes amid rumors of Apple launching a thin iPhone version later this year.

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S25 Edge which was teased as the slimmest Galaxy smartphone at the S25-series launch earlier this year. Being an S-series smartphone, The S25 Edge aims to deliver flagship performance and premium experience in a sleek and lightweight form factor. Prices start at $1,099 for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. Meanwhile, the 512GB storage model is set to go on sale starting May 30.

At just 5.8mm thin and weighing 163g, this is Samsung’s thinnest flagship smartphone in years, showcasing the South Korean company’s engineering prowess. The frame is made of Titanium which makes it stronger, yet lighter. The S25 Edge launch comes at a time when competitors like TECNO and HONOR showcased their sleek and slim smartphones at MWC 2025, and even Apple is rumored to launch a thin and light smartphone later this year.

To attain the thin form factor, Samsung had to make sacrifices in the battery and camera department. The Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a 3,900mAh battery, which is a miss compared to the competitors that are packing bigger capacity, high-density Silicon Carbon batteries. While there is fast charging support, it is limited to 25W, whereas competitors are offering 65W-120W fast charging. The smartphone also misses out on a telephoto camera yet delivers on key aspects of the flagship Galaxy-S experience, in a thin chassis.

Slimmest High-Res Camera and Flagship SoC in a Sleek Design

The Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a 6.7-inch QHD+ LPTO Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), same as the Galaxy S25+. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. Under the hood is a powerful 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Galaxy SoC, another great design win for Qualcomm showcasing no compromise in performance over thin form factors. The thermal architecture also had to be tweaked to have a wider surface area to dissipate heat and maximize cooling. The S25 Edge is available in two memory variants, 256GB/512GB, and higher capacity 12GB of RAM for smooth performance and faster AI processing.

Samsung’s engineers faced another big challenge of fitting a high-performance lens into an ultra-thin frame. The camera module structure had to be reconfigured to be shorter and slimmer, and the result is the smallest high-resolution camera ever made by Samsung. The Galaxy S25 Edge is equipped with a 200MP main camera with F/1.7 wide aperture, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and 2x optical quality lossless zoom. It also includes features like Nightography for bright and crisp low-light photo and video capture. The device supports LOG mode video capture, allowing creators to color grade in post-processing. There is also a secondary 12MP ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture. Up front, there is also a 12MP camera with f/2.2 aperture and support for LOG video capture.

Galaxy AI with Google’s Multimodal Gemini and Agentic AI Integration

Despite the S25 Edge’s slim design, Samsung continues to deliver on Galaxy AI features maintaining consistency across the S25 series. The smartphone comes with a host of Gen AI features such as Writing Assist to compose texts and emails, proofread text and more. There is drawing assist to turn your rough sketches into art, AI features to remove distraction/objects from your photos, portrait effects to turn your photos into art and much more. In videos, using Audio Eraser, you can remove wind noise and focus on clear vocals.

Samsung is also closely working with Google to enable Gemini AI experiences, including Gemini Live for Galaxy users, and popular Circle to Search feature with a dedicated button to invoke Gemini. Samsung’s Now Brief displays real-time information and controls for active apps like music players or timers on the lockscreen. Now Brief, which offers personalized updates and summaries from news, calendar events and more, is also available on the Galaxy S25 Edge.

While Galaxy AI integrates hybrid AI, Samsung’s Knox Vault ensures user data privacy and security. The smartphone runs on Android 15 OS with One UI 7 on top.
