Overview: US President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs for a broad list of countries on April 2, 2025. As many as 57 countries are expected to be affected by this announcement, including key manufacturing countries for smartphone brands dominating the US smartphone market, primarily Apple, Samsung, Motorola and Google.

This short report investigates which countries and how much major US smartphone OEMs manufacture their smartphones, and discusses their impact and how they respond. It also predicts how much the iPhone's price will increase if the tariffs become a reality.
