Overview: India smartphone shipments grew 4% YoY in April 2025, rebounding after a decline in Q1 2025. The growth was supported by multiple new launches and OEMs replenishing inventory ahead of the summer sales period.
vivo led the market in April 2025 with a 27% share, emerging as the fastest-growing brand among the top five. Its strong performance was driven by a robust lineup of new launches across price segments and channels, including the V50e, T4 5G, and Y19 5G. Samsung followed in second place but recorded an 11% YoY decline. While the initial momentum of its S series faded, the mid-premium A series continued to gain traction, supported by aggressive promotions and targeted marketing efforts. Motorola continued its upward trajectory, led by the strong performance of its G series and Edge series. With ambitious shipment targets for the year, the brand is expected to maintain momentum through an aggressive channel expansion strategy. Online share increased and reached 41% in April, largely driven by anticipation of the summer sales scheduled for the first week of May. Samsung led the segment with a 16% share, supported by mass market models such as the M16, M06, F16, and F06 5G.
