Global sales of GenAI-capable smartphones doubled annually in Q1 2025, accounting for 30% of the total smartphone market. With nearly all high-end smartphones now launching with GenAI capabilities, the adoption of GenAI is accelerating rapidly. At the same time, the GenAI is penetrating the mid-range segment, further driving mainstream integration. The number of GenAI-capable smartphone models increased from 123 in Q4 2024 to 143 in Q1 2025, reflecting its growing presence across price segments.
Gen AI-capable smartphone sales grew across all regions. China surpassed NAM to let the Gen-AI capable market. This is because in China, Chinese OEM's have strong localised presence, and they together captured two thirds of the Gen-AI market of the country in Q1 2025. Western Europe remained at third followed by MEA and APAC.
High-end smartphones priced above $400 are dominating the GenAI market, accounting for 85% of total GenAI smartphone volume.
