At the recently concluded MWC Barcelona, HONOR unveiled an array of new devices and technologies, showcasing its “all-scenario strategy” and solidifying its commitment to embedding advanced AI capabilities throughout its product suite.
Among the highlights were the Magic 6 Pro and foldable Magic V2 RSR, designed in collaboration with Porsche Design. Initially launched in China in January, they have now made their global debut. The event also introduced new offerings, including the MagicBook Pro 16 laptop and Pad 9 tablet.
Particularly notable was the debut of MagicBook Pro 16, distinguished by its extensive AI features that rightfully designate it as an AI PC. Its features such as Smart Picture Search, Smart Document Summary, Text Comprehension and AI Subtitle stem from HONOR’s partnerships with industry giants Intel, NVIDIA and Microsoft. The laptop is powered by Intel's high-performance Core Ultra 7 processor 155H and NVIDIA’s dedicated GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPU. Integrating Microsoft's Azure Speech Services, the MagicBook Pro 16 exemplifies the synergy between on-device and cloud-based AI, underscoring HONOR’s strategy to revolutionize user experience with generative AI.
The event reiterated HONOR’s ambitious AI vision, illustrating how its platform-level AI enables seamless device connectivity across different platforms. An example of this innovation is the enhanced Magic Ring feature, which allows effortless transfer of tasks, such as document editing, between smartphones, tablets and laptops, regardless of their operating systems.
Another significant advancement is Magic Portal, which utilizes AI to simplify complex tasks into single-step processes, demonstrating HONOR’s application of generative AI in practical, user-centric scenarios. For the global market, HONOR employs the open-source LlaMA 2 model for Magic Portal, contrasting with its self-developed LLM used in China. This adaptation facilitates integration with both Chinese and international apps, including Google Maps, TikTok and WhatsApp, highlighting HONOR’s inclusive approach to global AI functionality.
This will definitely help the brand’s premium product line to compete in Europe, which has been considered as its second home base after China.
These AI-enhanced features not only demonstrate HONOR's innovative approach to the AI revolution but also its commitment to designing user interfaces that prioritize efficiency and convenience. By fostering collaborations across the tech industry, HONOR aims to deliver superior AI use cases and enrich user experiences, stepping beyond a closed ecosystem to a more integrated and open technological landscape.
