Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge First Week Sales in Western Europe Higher Than Every Plus Variant After 2021

  • Initial sales of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge suggest it is succeeding in Western Europe, where the Plus variant has failed. In its first full week of sales, the S25 Edge has outsold every Plus variant after the S21+ in 2021.
  • However, the S25 Edge remains less popular than the S25 Ultra and base variants, and its high price will likely result in sales tailing off quickly.
  • Nevertheless, we think the slim/compact form factor is one to watch this year, especially with Apple rumored to be launching an Air variant of its iPhone 17 line-up later this year.

In its first full week of sales in Western Europe, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone model outsold every Plus variant introduced after the Galaxy S21+ in 2021, according to Counterpoint Research’s Weekly Smartphone Tracker. The Plus variant of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series has struggled in recent years, with most European consumers moving up to the Ultra or down to the base model. But the Galaxy S25 Edge, with its ultra-slim design and helped along by attractive trade-in deals, appears to be the solution to Samsung’s weak spot. But only time will tell if this performance will continue.

Associate Director Jan Stryjak said, “With arguably better specifications, an attractive new slim form factor and an only slightly higher price, the S25 Edge appears to have succeeded where recent Plus models have failed. Of course, it is still early days, and our suspicion is that once the early adopters have made their purchase, the Galaxy S25 Edge’s high price will result in sales tailing off quickly. Also, the S25 Edge remains less popular than the S25 Ultra and base variants. Nevertheless, we think the slim/compact form factor is one to watch this year, especially with Apple rumored to be launching an Air variant of its iPhone 17 line-up later this year.”
