China’s remarkable growth in the automotive sector is evident with active transitions to EVs and connected cars. Chinese consumers are at the forefront of this growth, demanding more features, personalization and an overall immersive feeling in their cars. Recognizing this, Counterpoint Research and Dolby conducted a survey among China’s car owners and prospective buyers to understand their thoughts on an in-car entertainment experience.

A graphic titled Consumer Interests Changing China's In-Car Entertainment Landscape by Counterpoint, showing that immersive audio and captivating visuals redefine the Chinese in-car consumer journey. It highlights statistics: 4 in 5 admit Dolby technology improves content quality, 9 in 10 interested in Dolby models for their next car, and 2 in 5 would choose a vehicle for the Dolby experience. Chinese consumers associate Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and in-car Wi-Fi/streaming with premium experiences. The graphic also shows that Chinese consumers prefer using their in-car entertainment system for music, movies, short-form videos, karaoke, and gaming.
