Market Highlights
- Global smartphone sales declined 5% YoY in Q1 2026 amid challenging market conditions, with OS-level trends offering deeper insights into underlying market dynamics.
- Android’s global share fell to 73% in Q1 2026, down from 76% a year earlier and marking its lowest share for a January-March quarter. This decline was largely driven by weakness in the entry-level segment, as rising component costs and ongoing geopolitical uncertainties continued to weigh on demand.
- iOS reached its highest ever share for a January-March quarter at 22%. Apple has managed rising costs more effectively than its peers. The iPhone 17 series remains popular, particularly the base variant, with higher storage and screen refresh rates attracting consumers globally. Besides, the iPhone 17e launch has further strengthened iOS adoption.
- HarmonyOS reached 19% share in China, overtaking iOS after slipping in the previous quarter. Huawei recorded its highest quarterly share since Q4 2020 at 20% owing to strong performance from the Mate 80 and Enjoy 90 series. Besides, its heavy reliance on domestic suppliers provides a good cost buffer amid the global memory price surge.
