Apple iPhone 6, the bestselling smartphone for 10 months straight

Apple iPhone 6 is the bestselling smartphone for 10 months in a row now and it continues to top the list in the US, China and Global market.

Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales have been rebounding since May after a slowdown in March and April. The iPhone 6 remains the bestselling phone globally in May and June which stretches its winning streak to nine consecutive months at the top.

Apple also continues to top the list in USA and China as arch-rival Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 smartphones loses steam quickly.

Every year we’ve seen the pattern of the iPhone topping the list in the fourth and first quarter of the year, while the Galaxy S tops the second and third quarter. This pattern now seems to have been broken as the iPhone 6 continues to top the list since September 2014.

The highly anticipated Galaxy S6 Edge was plagued with supply issues in the first month and now suffers from its high price tag – quickly losing its flare as a consequence. We see its sales figures declining since its launch in April. This is a heavy blow to Samsung as it has no other new model launched in 2015 in the top 10 best sellers list.

Apple on the other hand has enjoyed steady sales and now rebounds as promotions from mobile operators help spur demand. We believe April-June sales will be an upside surprise due to this rebound of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales worldwide despite the quarter being a traditionally slow for Apple as it’s well through the product cycle and with some channels anticipating the launch of the next Apple models.

Apple iPhone 6 is the bestselling smartphone in the US and the iPhone 6 Plus is the bestselling smartphone in China currently. China proves to be the largest market for iPhone 6 Plus showing the Chinese love for large screen devices.

Xiaomi’s Mi Note is marked at No. 6 globally and No. 2 in China. The surprise of the bunch is LG, which has managed to secure a top 10 place for its new flagship G4 for the first time this year. The smartphone market is not all about premium $400+ models. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes in at 9th place with its affordable $130 price tag. It’s proving to be a hit not just in China but India as well.

Without a major price cut from Samsung it doesn’t look like Galaxy S6 sales will be able to top the list this year. Without any obvious catalysts for Android product sales, we expect 2015 will continue to be an ‘Apple year’.
