Overview:

India smartphone market managed to grow by 6% YoY in February 2024. Xiaomi led the smartphone market with 20% share, increased emphasis on offline marketing strategies is contributing to the brand’s growth. Indian smartphone market ASP witnessed 5% YoY growth (Retail) and reached to $294 in Feb 2024. Major smartphone brands are prioritizing premiumization, leading to an increase in their ASP. On the other hand, Xiaomi, realme, and Transsion brands are primarily focused on the affordable segment, resulting in a decline in ASP for these brands.

$250-$400 price band experienced an impressive 61% YoY growth in shipments, largely driven by the popularity of devices such as the Vivo Y200 5G, Galaxy A25 5G, vivo 29e. Offline channel increased its share to 65% in Feb 2024. Even new entrants in markets like Nothing, Honor are realizing importance of offline channels and entering the segment.

Overview:

The India smartphone market started 2024 on a positive note with 8% YoY growth in January 2024. Indian smartphone market started on a positive sentiment as ASP witnessed 7% YoY growth (Retail) and reached to $295 in Jan 2024. As premiumization and 5G enabled devices demand are increasing, ASP has increased for all the major brands. India Monthly Smartphone Market Analysis 2023 Dec

The India smartphone market closed 2023 on a good note with 31% YoY growth in December 2023. Indian smartphone market ASP witnessed 2% YoY growth and reached to $269 (Retail) in Dec 2023. India Monthly Smartphone Market Analysis 2023 Nov

Overview:

India smartphone market grew by 30% YoY in Nov-23, propelled by an extended festive season sale during Diwali. Additionally, this month marked the end of festive season sales in India. Indian smartphone market ASP grew just 1% YoY and reached $281 (Retail) in Nov 2023, there was a dip in ASP of smartphones as the shipments reduced post the festive season sale period.

The top five smartphone brands contributed 71% share in the overall shipments during the month. E-commerce platforms’ share in the Indian smartphone market reduced drastically with the end of the festive sale; the online share was reduced to less than 40% in Nov 2023. Xiaomi emerged as the top player on the online channel, capturing almost a quarter of the share during the month.
