Analysis: Samsung to Become Apple’s Top Supplier for iPhones in 2018

Samsung’s semiconductor business unit has been the major profit driver for the company and we estimate that the Samsung revenue from Apple is going to quadruple in 2018, compared to 2016. Apple is likely to become Samsung’s biggest customer in the component business. The much awaited iPhone X was introduced in September, 2017. LG Display, TMSC along with Samsung were the major suppliers of iPhone components for a decade. Though TSMC, SK Hynix, Sony and Intel will remain key suppliers, Samsung is estimated to capture majority of the component supplier share.
